Stanley

Tahune Airwalk - Hobart
to Geeveston - 61km & Geeveston to Tahune - 28km
This beautiful reserve on the banks of the mighty Huon River
is now the home of the popular Tahune Forest AirWalk, two
swinging bridges and visitor centre. When exploring the Huon
Trail, don’t miss the adventure of walking through the canopy
of Tasmania’s renowned Southern Forests. At nearly 600 metres,
the Tahune AirWalk is one of the longest tree top walks in
Australia. It offers a ‘bird’s-eye’ view of wet eucalypt forest,
culminating in a spectacular cantilever above the confluence
of the mighty Huon and Picton Rivers. Other activities include
guided tours to the most easily accessible place in Tasmania
to see the famous Huon Pine. The Visitor Centre offers licensed
café and retail sales.
Generally camping and campervans
are welcome in forest areas. No fees or bookings apply but
be considerate of other users. There are many prepared sites
with basic facilities, but you are welcome to camp almost
anywhere in State Forest. We ask only that you leave designated
day-use sites to picnickers. Whatever your choice, please
be considerate of others and of the forest environment.

Entally
Estate - 15 Minutes form Launceston
One of the state’s true heritage houses, Entally Estate is thought
to have been built in 1819 by Thomas Haydock Reibey, who named
it after the suburb in Calcutta, India. Reibey came to Tasmania
in 1816 pursuing shipping interests and the fine features of
his home reflect his affluent background. These include a magnificent
collection of Regency furniture and fine silverware. Set in

Tiagarra
Aboriginal Cultural Centre & Museum - Mersey Bluff, Devonport
Established to preserve the art and culture of Tasmanian Aboriginals,
Tiagarra (a Tasmanian Aboriginal word for keep) houses a rare
collection of more than 250 rock engravings, the first of which
were discovered on Mersey Bluff headland in 1929 by local headmaster,
A L Meston. Several buildings resembling west coast Tasmanian
Aboriginal huts contain 18 displays of more than 2000 artefacts,
among them two large murals by Tasmanian artist, Max Angus.
